Perry Como was one of the best loved singers of the twentieth century ranking alongside the likes of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. Over his long career he was to provide music lovers with numerous hits. This CD features a period in his career 1943 to 1947 when he became established as a solo artist rather than a band singer and features Three No. 1 hits, Four million-sellers, One two million-seller. Perry continued down the years to make records and to broadcast on radio and on television, and later on to perform in concert. His last Christmas TV Special was filmed at the Point Theatre, Dublin, Ireland in January 1994. The audience of four thousand five hundred included his friend, Maureen O'Hara, and the then President of the Irish Republic, Mary Robinson. Perry died in his sleep on May 12th 2001 and millions of people throughout the world mourned the passing of a greatly loved singer.
